ARE YOU A RUNNER? A COUCH POTATO?

Me and my trike

TOPIC 72 CONTRASTING LIFE STYLES  Colorado is a fitness state.  It is made for hiking, biking, walking, skateboarding, Alpine sporting, mountain sports.  wherever you look there is someone working out one way or another.  I have a theory about most of those I see biking or jogging and that is they do so because they are thin and muscular already.  Not that you do not occasionally seeing someone as tubby as my hubby huffing and puffing.  However, my sense is they get no joy.  Now, I am neither a runner or a couch potato. I loved roller skating, bike and horseback riding in my youth.  Love swimming once I learned how.  Skied the beginner’s trails, skated.  Once upon a time I ran.  I even won a mile race for Golden Oldies.  (I was the youngest having just turned 50 the age one had to be to enter.)  Now I walk, ride my tricycle and walk in water (aquasize).

Still I loved this Nano Workout because I am also a bit lazy when it comes to some exercises.  I do the Shopping Bag lift and in fact joke with the cashiers who are obligated to ask I want out, that  having someone carry my bags would deprive me of my weight lifting exercises.

Nano Workout – A healthy lifestyle without breaking a sweat.

STAYING STRONG TIP  Move Your Body is one of my Emotional Fitness Exercises.  It matters, it makes you stronger, keeps you younger.  Recent studies show that it can be broken up into ten minute segments.  Other recent studies are showing that making  Sprint training  a part of any workup is another Nano Workout. Riding my tricycle gives me my sprint training, but as I type this think I will also make it a point to climb a flight of stairs once or twice a day as my sprint.  The weather is not always right for riding the three-wheeler.

  1. I picked myself off the sofa last August and I haven’t stopped running. I’m happy for the change. ;-)

    • PUnky has me power walking now. I used to run and always listened to the same Beethoven tape as I ran. Grateful now, but I hear parts of it in my mind and I do miss music. Stay strong.

      • Ditto! I used to run too and what my running comment meant was that I haven’t stopping moving my body; being active in many other ways to stay fit — dance, yoga, zumba, spinning etc, etc. :-) TY! :-)

  2. You are a great inspiration! My health has been the pits for months but you make me want to try harder!

    • It ain’t easy. Helps that I have a husband and a dog and silver slippers. Silver slippers are part of my health insurance and mean I can go to Y free, free, free. That has made an enormous difference. Still i can begin couching it very quickly. The hard days are when the weather outside is frightful. Thank you as always for you kind words.
